Alfred Martino Stuttering through Board Meeting 11.30.10

Uh, um...ah, these audio clips are so painful to listen to that You Tube rejected them several times, but I am posting them for those who weren't able to make it, or didn't know there was a board meeting taking place.

The board meeting started off with the formalities of introductions and finances.  We come to learn that Niki Dawson, who has most recently been referred to as "shelter spokeswoman," is actually the Acting Executive Director, though she is not mentioned on LHS's official website.  Her position is being kept under the radar, which may have something to do with DAWSON v. CITY OF JERSEY CITY (Reference 1) (Reference 2).  Her lawyer - none other than Howard Z. Myerowitz, Diana Jeffrey's husband and law partner, who currently happens to be S.L.A.P.P. suing several volunteers and animal advocate groups.  I have a feeling Jersey City wouldn't be too thrilled to pay the salary of someone who is suing them.

As for the reading of all those big numbers, this website is a great resource, just type and read.

Alfred Martino also puts the blame on previous staff for mismanaging ALL data, software, statistics, and more.  But, "the board will be publishing [their] animal statistics for the first meeting in January."  Looking forward to it!  Does anyone happen to know when that will be?

The most ridiculous statement made, however, was that the new board/management had to vaccinate and deworm over 175 animals costing the shelter over $17,000.  That's a LOT of vaccinating.

Alfred Martino also mentions the Panleuk epidemic that supposedly never happened.  Apparently the shelter kept the epidemic under control by thoroughly sanitizing both the cat isolation and intake rooms and keeping them vacant for a 72 hour period before reintroducing the cats.  Here is a thought.  We are all aware of the fact that the shelter was low on space to begin with, so where did the cats that occupied those two rooms go during those 72 hours?

So now it's time to deal with what Alfred Martino calls the elephant in the room.  The only elephant is his speech which seems to have been written by someone else.  However, Al and the board would like you to believe that the previous administration's No-Kill policy (which by the way never existed) was to blame, and that the new administration will place ALL adoptable animals (which we know to be a lie).  It's obvious the new administration has no idea what No-Kill really is.

Make sure to catch all the improvements that were made.  After all, "The landscaping to ah the facility grounds has been improved."  I am overjoyed that the concrete sidewalk looks shiny and new, but what about the animals inside?

Thank you for your 17 years of business experience.  I'm sure with some extra practice, and better luck next time, you will be able to conquer your stu-stu-stuttering.

Don't miss the last few minutes of this clip!   There are always surprises in store!

Listen to PAL trainer call the dogs "crazy" and then say, “I am taking time out of my evening to go over there and work with dogs and work with people...I figure I could just be doing something else.”

And for the finale, Diana Jeffrey verbally abuses a volunteer.  What a bully.  Didn't you learn anything from your son?

  1. She did not know who I was when I walked in, but by the end of the board meeting Diana Jeffrey asked "Who was it that I felt like spitting at"? (from a posting I wrote on LHS Uncensored months ago) and I was taken aback...not so much at the question but by her vile tone...I did not remember at the time but I could say she would be on the "spitting list" - along with ND - who I referred to in the post - and anybody who kills animals that could have been companions for people.
